1. What This Policy Covers

This Cookie Policy explains how Custom AI Works uses cookies and similar storage technologies on customaiworks.com. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They help websites remember information about your visit — such as keeping you signed in or remembering preferences. Some cookies are essential for a site to function; others support analytics or personalization.

We also use browser local storage (localStorage), which is similar to cookies but stored by web applications directly. Where relevant, we call this out below.

3. Cookies We Use

Strictly necessary

These are required for the Site to work and cannot be disabled:

• Cloudflare security cookies (__cf_bm, cf_clearance) — protect against bots and abuse, and remember security challenges you've passed. Provided by Cloudflare, our hosting and CDN provider. Typically expire within 30 minutes to 1 year.
• Supabase auth session (sb-<project>-auth-token) — keeps you signed in to your member account. Without this cookie, sign-in cannot function. Expires when you sign out or after the session lifetime.
• Consent preferences — remembers your cookie-consent choice so we don't ask on every visit.

Functional

• Application preferences (localStorage, not cookies) — our free AI tools store interface preferences (theme, panel state) in your browser's local storage.
• BYOK API keys (localStorage, not cookies) — if you choose to provide your own AI API key ("bring your own key"), it is stored only in your browser's local storage. It is never sent to our servers, never stored in cookies, and we cannot see or access it. Deleting your browser's site data removes it.

Payment processing

• Stripe — when you check out or manage billing, Stripe may set cookies (such as __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) for fraud prevention and to remember your session during checkout. These are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies We Do Not Use

• We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
• We do not sell cookie data or share it with data brokers.
• We do not use your BYOK API keys for any purpose — they never leave your browser.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings:

• Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
• Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Blocking strictly-necessary cookies (Cloudflare security, Supabase auth) will break sign-in and may prevent parts of the Site from loading. To clear local-storage data (including a stored BYOK key), use your browser's "clear site data" option for customaiworks.com.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. The updated date at the top reflects the latest revision.
